History of the NGO Les Flamboyants

Located in Doropo in the North-East of the Ivory Coast, 700 km from Abidjan, the NGO Les Flamboyants is a Non-Governmental Non-profit Organization created on September 20, 2011 under the leadership of Mr. KRAKO Kobenan Jacques , a graduate in nursing and obstetrics from the National School of Public Health (ENSP) in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. It contributes to improving the living conditions of communities, particularly women and children in the Bounkani, Gontougo and Indenié Djuablin regions in the areas of health, education and protection.

The NGO Les Flamboyants was set up to meet the needs of communities and particularly the most vulnerable groups such as women and children living in difficult socio-economic and health conditions during the post-election crisis in our country of 2010 to 2011. Thus, it began its activities with the provision of primary health care services by its health center called Center Médicosocial (CMS) les Flamboyants. The NGO Les Flamboyants is the first organization in the region involved in the fight against HIV/AIDS with prevention and care activities for PLHIV. In 2014, it treated more than 350 PLHIV with a treatment compliance rate of over 90%. Apart from Doropo, in collaboration with several partners, the NGO Les Flamboyants operates in other regions:

Gontougo region, Indenié Djuablin region and Tchologo region

In the areas of education and protection, the sporadic actions of the NGO Les Flamboyants have focused on information campaigns to raise public awareness on issues including women's rights, the schooling of young girls, child labor, early pregnancy. Also with the phenomenon of insecurity caused by inter-community conflicts and the rise of terrorism in the north of Côte d'Ivoire, it deploys means for the promotion of social cohesion and the prevention of the cause of violent extremism and the radicalization of young people.

Today, the NGO Les Flamboyants is both nationally and internationally known as a structure that fights for the well-being of communities. Ambitious and helpful, the NGO is part of a collaborative approach through actions carried out with the support of the Ivorian State and its partners.
